정형과 비정형의 사이. 자연과 건축의 경계에 위치한 호스텔의 건축환경은 지리적 특징으로 부터 추출한 메타포를 거대한 콘크리트 더미로 치환한다. 해변가, 오래 시간동안 바다에 의해 침식된 암석들의 기괴한 형태는 디자인 컨셉의 시작점이자, 내부 공간들을 정의하는 수단으로 적용된다. 해변가에 놓인 암석들 사이, 자연이 만들어 놓은 사이는 건축사이, 콘크리트 사이에 내외부를 연결하는 출입구로, 내부 자연채광과 전망을 유도하는 개구부 및 창문으로, 하늘을 향해 열려 있는 중정의 사이로 확장, 표현된다. 오히려 덜 다듬은 듯한 노출콘크리트의 마감은 거대한 암석과 같은 질감을 전달하는 디자인 요소로 배제된 장식과 함께 호스텔의 메타포를 뚜렷히 표현한다.

Liuqiu is governed by Pingtung County and the only one coral island of Taiwan’s offshore islands. The ground inclines gently towards northeast. There are odd coral rocks eroded by the sea alongside the coast, cliffs in the south and small rare sandy beaches on the western coast.
Therefore, the main design concepts start from the porous coral rock.
