There are plenty of reasons why a hotel can become so successful that even a single glance can captivate us and create an enchanting sense of belonging. In the case of the Vander Urbani Resort, this reason is the warm, welcoming Vujadinovič family, who are always eager to welcome their guests and share their local secrets. The latest member of Design Hotels, Vander Urbani Resort itself is located right in the heart of Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia in a prime location surrounded by leafy pedestrian streets and numerous cafes, bars and galleries. It is in this area where Amanda and Aleksander Vujadinovič, owners of the resort, shared their first kiss and raised their happy family before they decided to expand their house and convert it into an exclusive hotel. Today the resort is spread over four buildings, inviting its valuable guests to make it their home. Curved lines, in combination with strict geometric shapes and fine finishes, create a strange mix of patterns and a strong sense of flow. The Vander Urbani Resort provides 16 rooms and 2 river front suites as well as the capacity to host meetings and conferences. It also incorporates several other amenities such as a wine cellar, an outdoor pool and pool deck BBQ. Furthermore, after the terrace’s renovation, Mr and Mrs Vujadinovič decided to include 2 Zen treatment rooms for yoga and meditation classes as well as daily city tours with local guides.

Ljubljana’s romantic, medieval streets and bridges along with its Baroque and Art Nouveau architecture create the perfect backdrop for the property. The hotel’s architecture and interior design was assigned to Sadar+Vuga, one of Ljubljana’s best known local design practices. With their vision of maintaining the Baroque element of the property, Sadar+Vuga have managed to introduce minimal aspects through the use of concrete, steel and glass, in order to create an elegant yet inviting environment whilst preserving the historic exterior of the building. The ground floor of the hotel includes the open space reception, a restaurant and lounge areas whereas the 16 rooms and 2 suites with their light colour schemes, textile floors and tailor made furnishings, are organised throughout the following 3 floors around a vertical atrium. On the top floor, a sun-soaked glass box, surrounded by the pool and different deck levels, forms an ideal living room for visitors and a perfect spot to take in the historical centre view. The rear side of the hotel is open thereby diffusing natural light throughout the building.

With the hosts’ charming presence evident throughout, the Vander Urbani Resort is the perfect destination for anyone looking to indulge in class and comfort in a beautiful European city.

> The design is based on a kaleidoscopic play of 3D patterns in different materials and reflections that extend the borders of the actual space. <
