집은 당신이 살아가는 삶의 터전이며 당신의
삶에 반이상을 차지하는 공간이다.
교토에 위치한 단독주택은 다른 무엇보다 대지와 호흡하기를 중요히
여긴다. 그것은 서측에 위치한 정원과 잔디로 열리는 그리운드레벨의
퍼블릭스페이스에서 찾아 볼수 있으며, 비교적 낮은 담장을 설치해
이웃과의 교류를 위한 제스쳐 또한 디자인 하였다.
흙을 밟지 못하는 사람,
우리 대다수가 흙위에 살거나 흙속에 산다.
도시속에서 자신만의 적정공간을 찾아 산다는 것은
어느정도의 부를 갖고 있지 않는 이상 매우 힘들일이 되어 버렸다.
기본가치권인 프라빗스페이스가 무너질때 우리는
자존감과 자신감을 동시에 잃어 버린다.
매우 안타까운 일이다.
사쿠라가오가 하우스가 이야기 하고 싶은 것은 어쩌면
자연과의 교류가 아닌 자기 자신의 영역을 찾기 위한
시도가 아니였을까, 싶다.

'house in sakuragaoka' by tokyo-based atelier yoritaka hayashi architects is a multi-level private dwelling for a family in a remote residential area of seiko, kyoto, japan. focusing on creating a sense of connection between the inhabitants of the house, the design creates and offsets four levels within the two-storey volume to establish slivers of views from one area of the residence to another.

making the most of the relatively large plot, the design generates a generous outdoor garden and lawn to the west, creating privacy through two low-rising fence units. the ground floor is finished with a sliding system of floor-to-ceiling windows that wrap around the corner facing the garden. acting as an open interface, the internal communal programs can be completely extended to the outdoors.
