상하이 퓨처 익스체인지로 부터 연장선상에 있는 상하이 뱅크 데이타 프로세싱 센터는 중국 푸동으로 부터 21km 떨어진 이노베이션 공원내 자리한다. 은행에 대한 신뢰는 건축믈 디자인하는 시작점으로 견고하며 모놀리틱한 조금은 보수적인 건축외형을 형성하며 거대한 마더보드와 같이 배치된다. 이러한 보수적인 외형과는 달리 데이타 센터는 거대한 기판으로 상하이 퓨처 익스체인지와 실시간으로 링크, 하이테크놀로지 공간으로 제안된다. 내부 프로그램은 '디지털 요새'를 테마로 크게 12,500sqm 면적의 데이터 서버룸이 자리한 저층부와 기타 지원 프로그램 시설, 오피스, 고객서비스 센터 그리고 레스토랑과 컨퍼런스가 자리한 상층부로 구성된다.

Paris-based studio Silvio d’Ascia Architecture completes new data processing center for the Bank of Shanghai, its second such complex in Shanghai.

The new project, conceived in partnership with AREP and Shanghai-based ECADI, is located in the Zhangjiang Innovation Park, situated about 21 km from Pudong. Imagined as a sort of « digital fortress », the complex includes roughly 12,500 m2 of data server rooms, with these spaces forming the foundation upon which rest other programmatic zones, such as offices, customer service centers, restaurants, and conference centers.

Explains d’Ascia : « The idea was to give a certain solidity to the image of the bank ; we wanted the center to reflect the strength of the financial institution housed within its walls. »

The project’s conclusion comes on the heels of the studio’s recent data processing center for the Shanghai Futures Exchange. Both projects came about as the result of winning competition bids and continue the studio’s forary into highly-technical buildings for the digital age. « I truly believe this sort of building, the data center, is the future. Every company will need one, » notes d’Ascia.
