지면에서 부터 시작된 건축의 흐름은 자연과 건축의 경계가 모호한 경사지붕으로 구현, 자연 속 또다른 장관을 연출한다. 경사지붕위 식재된 다양한 조경은 자연 속으로 건축을 숨기며 지역 주민들의 다양한 야외활동을 지원하는 루프가든으로 사용된다. 여름철 피크닉, 바베큐 파티, 강의 또는 덴마크 전통의 미드섬머 데이를 위한 장소로, 겨울철 경사지붕을 이용한 최적의 도시 눈썰매장으로 제공된다. 이와는 별개로 내부공간은 켜켜이 쌓여진 도시들의 유적을 감상하듯이 적층된 테라스가 랜드스케이프 된다. 이를 통해 마치 타입슬립을 하듯 방문객들은 전시장의 생동감 넘치는 장면들과 과학적 경험을 연속된 공간 속에서 만나며 박물관 내부를 구성하는 "집속의 집"을 접하게 된다.

The new museum is uniquely located in the hilly landscape of Skåde.
With its sloping roofscape of grass, moss and flowers in bright colours the building appears a powerful visual landmark perceptible even from the sea.
The rectangular
shaped roof plane seems to grow out of the landscape and during summer
it will form an area for picnics, barbecues, lectures and traditional
Midsummer Day’s bonfires. Come winter snowfall, the sloping roof will
become transformed into the city’s best toboggan run.

The interior of the building is designed like a varied terraced
landscape inspired by archaeological excavations gradually unearthing
the layers of history and exposing lost cities. The visitor can move
through a vivid sequence of exhibitions and scientific experiments –
like a traveler in time and space.
With its bright courtyard gardens, terraces and small cave-like “houses-in-the-house”, the museum will invite various new and alternative kinds of exhibitions. The heart of the building is the foyer with a café and outdoor service. From the foyer, the terraced underworld opens up to the light from the roof garden and the impressive view of the Århus Bay.
