텐마크 카스트럽에 새롭게 제안되는 아쿠아리움은 바다의 역동적인 흐름을
형상화한 연속적인 곡선 볼륨을 구현한다.
하지만 오해는 금물, 이러한 유선형의 디자인은 형태의 집착한 디자인의
결과가 아닌 동선과 공간을 고려한 구조적 외피가 형태로 귀착된 결과물로
내외부의 다이나믹한 공간의 타이트함을 맛보게 한다.
여기에 물 밑에 디자인된 오션-스케이프는 소용돌이 형태로 디자인되어
방문객들을 바다속으로 유입시키는 한편 자연스러운 동선상에
각기 다른 테마를 지닌 전시장을 배치하여 전체 바다생태환경을
관람 할 수 있는 전시공간을 보여준다.

today, the small town of kastrup in denmark celebrates the public opening of its newest aquarium designed by local practice 3XN. the 'blue planet aquarium' is
derived from the nautical swirl, a pattern repeated not only in the
fluid behavior of water but throughout marine wildlife design as well,
the radial shape also dictates the organization of spaces and
circulation. the tentacle-like structure seems to hover over a
reflecting pool, and once inside the visitor is immersed within
several
underwater ocean-scapes; similar to the function of a whirlpool, the
project pulls the guest into the deep blue to observe the sea life. a
glass roof in the entrance foyer supports a shallow pool of water
that filters natural sunlight and projects kinetic aqueous lines and
sunspots into the space below. immediately one finds themselves in
the central round room, the connection hub to the various winding
thematic wings where guests can choose to explore the river, lake, or
ocean. located next to, and overlooking the øresund strait fosters a
land-sea relationship where guests always have a visual connection to
the real deal. the vortex-like footprint also mirrors the dynamic
nature of water. the lines dictated by the metallic structure are
continued onto the site through landscaping and make it possible to add on more exhibit areas by simple extending the wings of the building.
